One of St. Johns County’s fastest-growing activities is a sport that many have never heard of or seen played.
But that could change, as more and more locals continue to take an interest in pickleball — a game that is similar to tennis but played with a smaller racket and a wiffleball on a court closer in size to that used in badminton.
“It’s a sport for all ages,” said Bob Dean, a pickleball ambassador for the state of Florida. “I have people playing pickleball anywhere from the age of 5 to your death, you know? This is one sport that you can play forever. It’s like a lifetime sport.”
