The evening session starts with an optional $40 drill clinic by HSC teaching pro and prior owner Bobby Garrett, features pickleball at 7-8 p.m. then dinner.
Entry perks include a Conde Nast magazine subscription, Rally for the Cure T-Shirt, “goodie” bag, and prize raffle ticket. Donor 5×7 cards will be displayed in the clubhouse. Tennis balls are pink, color of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Pickleball is Coming Along in Palm Beach County, Florida

Submitted by Josh Kalin, Ambassador, Delray Beach, Florida

Ambassador Josh Kalin, Delray Beach, and wife Harriet, handled the Demo/Clinic that was held recently at the YMCA in Boynton Beach, Florida. Thanks to players, Bob Wybinow, Eileen Tuckman, Karyl Lewis, Richie Liss and Steve Levine for their help. People were surprised at how relatively easy it was to learn. Officially the sport will be part of the activities program on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 – 1 p.m.

In addition, Ambassador Dick Freshley and Art Pumpian were responsible for having the Demo/Clinic at South Olive Community Center, West Palm Beach. Helping out were: Ambassador Bob Friedman, Charlie Linkov and Bob Wybinow. Play will be Friday mornings. Art recently taught some youngsters to play. Who knows, maybe there will be open time for the kids on weekends.

Avid players are patiently waiting for the eight courts to be built and Caloosa Park, Boynton Beach, FL. These will replace the three that were used in the practice area between two hockey rinks. What a group of fun players!  Everyone squeezed in for this shot.

Pictured are: Steve Pearlstein, Mike Tuturro, Charlie Linkov, Bob Wybinow, Saul Solomon, Josh Kalin, Ambassador, Steve Levine, Harriet Berks Kalin, Steve Wolman, Dennis Morley, Effie Goldberg, Lynn Tillman, Art Pumpian, Norma Warmund and Charlie Leone. Thank you to Shep Parr for taking the picture.

Pickleball among sports featured at Golden Olympics

Published:  September 18, 2013 - www.macon.com

WARNER ROBINS -- A cross between tennis, ping pong and badminton, pickleball is the newest sport at the Georgia Golden Olympics.

Played with a large paddle and a ball with holes of varying sizes, opponents serve and volley much like tennis.

William and Sheila Slye first started playing eight months ago while living in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Bonaire residents liked it so much, they bought their own graphite paddles and decided to participate in the state games for the first time.

A fun-filled day of Pickleball - September 14, 2013

Pickleball coming to Peachtree City

September 3, 2013, www.thecitizen.com

WHAT IS Pickleball, you ask?
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing Sports in America today. Across the country, more and more people are playing; young and old getting involved and having loads of fun. Whether getting involved for a great cardio workout, as an attempt to stay in shape, or to compete against others in age-level or skill-level tournaments , the game of Pickleball can help you stay active and healthy while providing endless hours of social entertainment, fun, and enjoyment.
The newly formed Peachtree Fayette Sports Alliance, along with the Peachtree City Convention and Visitors Bureau are partnering together with the Peachtree City Tennis Center and putting together a fun-filled day planned around this popular new sports craze. The day’s activities will include a demonstration, free play, a complimentary lunch and an opportunity for round robin play.
PIckleball can be played on a tennis court that has been converted to the dimensions of a PIckleball court. The playing field is smaller, and doubles is the preferred format; equating to less impact on the knees and joints than a normal tennis game.
Anyone interested in participating in the workshop can sign up simply by calling either the Peachtree City CVB at 678-216-0282 or emailing info@visitpeachtreecity.com or by calling the Peachtree City Tennis Center at 770-486-9474. There is no charge, and participants are asked to wear tennis shoes and bring a paddle if they have one. Extra paddles will be available for those who do not own one. The workshop begins at 10 a.m. See you on the Pickleball court!
