WAKE FOREST, NC – July 8, 2014 – Pickle Ball gives you a great workout, but isn't as taxing on the knees as tennis, says Jerry McInnes, a member of a loosely-knit group fo approximately 65 Wake County area pickle ball players.
The sport appeals to older adults who still enjoy the camaraderie of playing racket sports but don't have the desire to run around the tennis courts.
About 15 players brought out their lawn chairs and coolers for a long morning of fun on July $.
The Town of Wake Forest has seen a surge in interest in playing pickle ball addressing the burgeoning sport by creating pickle ball courts at Flaherty which share space with two back tennis courts. According to a town press release, "As part of an ongoing effort to upgrade its existing facilities, the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department also added eight pickle ball courts on two of the tennis courts."
