The Greensboro (NC) Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the inaugural Greensboro Summer Pickleball Classic August 28-30 at the Greensboro Sportsplex, 2400 16th Street. Named one of the fastest growing sports in America by Athletic Business Magazine, participants are expected from around the state and southeast. The event is sponsored by Pickleball Central and Mt. Olive Pickles, who will also provide giveaways to tournament participants.

The tournament will consist of both men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles in the 35-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+ age ranges. The tournament begins Thursday, August 28 with a practice session from 12 noon to 6 pm. Tournament play starts Friday, August 29 at 9 am. To register, go online at or visit the Sportsplex.
