At 19, Kyle Yates has a lot going for him. The Cypress Lake High School alumnus is a biology major already in his junior year at the University of Florida. He works part-time for his stepfather, Larry Scott, at a veterinary clinic.And he’s one of the best in the country in his sport. Nevermind that it’s a sport not many people know about.
Mr. Yates, who won’t turn 20 until April, is rated No. 2 in the country in Pickleball. And according to Mark Friedenberg, a Seattle Pickleball expert, founder of the USA Pickleball Association and author of “The Official Pickleball Handbook,” Mr. Yates can get better yet.
“Being the best in the country?” Mr. Friedenberg wrote in an email. “He can certainly become the best!”
